Our clients were drawn to the charm of the existing home’s cottage details and loved its walk to town location but felt stifled by its small, compartmentalized spaces and lack of outdoor connection. An open Great Room layout forms the heart of the home where spaces are defined by distinct casework. Corner windows and floating wood shelves anchoring a modern hood create an airy, inviting kitchen. A sleek, plaster finished fireplace framed by bookcases and large wall planes to display the family’s art and photography allows for the contemporary, artistic expression of our clients without losing the original cottage charm.
Remodel/Transformation – The existing home square footage was over the allowable limit so the KCS design team cleverly removed some wasted lower floor square footage to allow a second story addition to create a master suite. A covered patio with a built-in fire pit that connects to the living room via French doors replaced the wasted lower floor area.
